Qualcomm is expected to unveil its upcoming high-performance flagship circuit series at the Tech Summit next week. Last week, MediaTek unveiled the Dimensity 9000 – the first smartphone chipset built on a 4nm process. According to industry insider reports Digital chat station, The MediaTek chipset costs almost double the price of the previous 5G chipset. This means we can expect high-end smartphones with the new chipset to be more expensive than devices with the Dimensity 1200.
The report also mentions that while the price of the Dimensity 9000 is almost double the price of the Dimensity 1200, Qualcomm’s unannounced S8 Gen1 is still more expensive than MediaTek’s upcoming flagship chipset. As for the 5nm Dimensity 7000, Digital chat station reports that we may see devices running on this chipset sometime in the first quarter of 2022.
According to a more recent report, Qualcomm’s new chip may be called “Snadpragon 8Gx Gen 1” instead of “S8 Gen 1”. Anyway, we’ll know next week when Qualcomm kicks off its Tech Summit on Nov. 30, where it will officially unveil the real name of the new flagship district series.
Qualcomm’s upcoming chip may be named “Snapdragon 8Gx Gen1”
MediaTek held its summit last week where it unveiled the Dimensity 9000, which made a drastic change to the numbering system from the Dimensity 1200 and jumped all the way to the 9000. This is likely to free up space for a new family of smartphone chipsets that MediaTek plans to release in the future.
According to recent reports, we may start seeing devices running on the Dimensity 9000 chipset on the market in February. This supports MediaTek’s estimated Q1 2022 device, which says the devices will arrive with a new chipset.
