CHICAGO (CBS) – Three men were injured in a shooting Friday afternoon during a robbery attempt just outside the Garfield station on the CTA Red Line.
Police said around noon. At 12:45 p.m., two men were standing on the sidewalk at the entrance to the Red Line station at 200 W. Garfield Blvd. when two men went up and demanded their shopping bags and other personal belongings.
When the victims refused, one of the robbers pulled out a gun and started firing.
A 32-year-old man was shot in the right side of the abdomen and another 32-year-old man was shot in the lower back. Both were brought to the University of Chicago Medical Center in reasonable condition.
A third victim, a 43-year-old man, was shot in the thigh and took himself to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition.
No one was remanded in custody Friday afternoon.
The CTA said the Red Line trains passed Garfield station while police were investigating.
