⅔ cup milk,3 large eggs,2 teaspoons vanilla extract,1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon,½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • Dip one piece of bread into the egg mixture.
    6 slices thick bread

  • Add a 2nd or 3rd piece if your basket is big enough.
  • Cook for 6 minutes.
  • The flip it over and then cook for and additional 4-6 more minutes until golden brown, checking after 2 minutes as air fryer brands differ in cooking times.
  • Repeat with the remaining pieces of bread.
  • Serve topped with your favorite toppings like butter, maple syrup, fresh fruit and powdered sugar.
    Maple syrup

Notes

Add a tablespoon of sugar to the batter if you prefer it sweet

Add more of the spices to the egg batter as you cook additional slices if needed.

Make sure to use air fryer liners or to grease the air frying basket before using otherwise the bread will stick to the basket.

I like using a thick bread such Brioche, Texas Toast, or Sourdough. Use any bread you have on hand. Thinner bread may cook faster so keep an eye on it.

Quickly soak the bread but don’t leave it in the batter too long otherwise it may become soggy.

Refrigerator: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator without toppings for up to 4 days.

Freeze: Make several pieces and freeze them in a freezer bag for a quick breakfast.

Reheating: Reheat in the air fryer for a minute or two or for 30 seconds in the microwave. If frozen, heat for a little longer.
