Air Fryer Orange Cake Recipe 🚫🍊✨

Ingredients:

  • 4 egg whites and egg yolks (room temperature)
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Zest of one orange
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 can chilled condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup orange juice (for the frosting)

Instructions:

  1. Grate and Juice Oranges: Grate the orange for zest and then juice it.
  2. Mix Ingredients: Beat egg yolks with sugar until combined. Add flour (sifted), oil, salt, baking soda, water, orange juice, and zest. Mix until just combined.
  3. Beat Egg Whites: Beat egg whites until frothy and stiff peaks form. Fold into the batter.
  4. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 310°F (155°C).
  5. Pour Batter: Pour the batter into a greased cake pan that fits your air fryer.
  6. Air Fry: Bake in the preheated air fryer for 42 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Make Frosting: While the cake cools, whip one can of chilled condensed milk for 2 minutes. Add 1/4 cup orange juice and continue to mix for an additional 2 minutes.
  8. Assemble Cake: Let the cake cool completely before applying the frosting. Flip the cake upside down, trim the top layer for evenness, and frost.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Grate Finely: Grate the orange finely before juicing.
  • Don’t Overmix: Only mix until just combined to avoid a dense cake.
  • Cool Completely: Let the cake cool completely before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting into the cake.

Variations:

  • Add-ins: Add chopped walnuts, pecans, raisins, or coconut flakes to the batter.
  • Oven Alternative: Bake in the oven at 350°F for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
