How to Know when Barbecue Chicken Thighs are Done
According to the FDA, chicken needs to cook to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
How long that takes is going to depend on your make and model of air fryer as well as the size of the chicken thighs.
I always recommend using an Instant Read Thermometer for the most accurate cooking times.
Once the thermometer inserted into the thickest part of a chicken thigh reads 165 degrees F, you’re ready to serve!
What Kind of BBQ Sauce Should You Use For Chicken Thighs?
That is entirely up to you! I have tried this recipe with multiple kinds of barbecue sauce, and they have all turned out mouth-wateringly delicious.
Feel free to grab your favorite brand from the store, or you could make my 2-ingredient BBQ Sauce right at home!
When using store-bought, my favorites are Sweet Baby Ray’s and Stubb’s BBQ Sauce.
Tips for Making the Best Air Fryer BBQ Chicken Thighs
- Pat the chicken thighs as dry as you can. This will help the oil and seasonings adhere better and give you the best results in the air fryer.
- Make sure you coat as much of the chicken thighs in the seasoning mix as possible for the biggest flavor.
- Try to lay the thighs in a single layer in the air fryer so they cook evenly. A little overlap is okay, but you don’t want to overcrowd the basket.
