Which Potatoes are Best for the Air Fryer?
Similar to these Roasted Potatoes and Slow Cooker Potato recipes, the potatoes you use in the air fryer matters. Here’s what it comes down to:
Russets: These will air fry wonderfully. They will crisp up delightfully with a lovely golden tone. Their insides will be delicate and fluffy with a moderate taste. Always an excellent pick!
Yukon Golds or Yellow Potatoes: These are a favorite for air frying since they will crisp up wonderfully but also become a slightly deeper golden color due of the reduced starch and greater sugar content. Their crisp will be a touch softer than a russets nevertheless, their insides will be creamy and full of taste.
Reds: Red potatoes when roasted will develop an even deeper golden brown due of their even greater sugar and lower carbohydrate content. They will be crispy coming out but soften rapidly on the outside. Their insides will be creamy and velvety.
Baby Potatoes or New Potatoes: These are not a cultivar or sort of potato. They are ordinary potatoes that have been thinned from the harvest early. These potatoes have a high sugar content and roast in the air fryer flawlessly as well as keep their form. Although they might be hard to get at the grocery store since they are somewhat seasonal they are typically a favorite.
Tips for Crispy Roasted Potatoes
The air fryer recipe makes them foolproof. But here are some ways to help them be fantastic!
Wash: Since you’ll want to keep the skins on (the skins carry all the nutrients anyhow), make sure to wash them well.
Oil: If you like you may use an oil spray to coat your potatoes. You need the oil to help the spices cling to the potatoes.
Preheat: Be careful to let your air fryer to preheat for optimal crispiness in your roasted potatoes.
Flip: Use a spatula or a spoon to flip your potatoes. Shaking the basket might cause your roasted potatoes to come apart.
Know Your Air Fryer: Be sure to study your air fryers handbook and know what temperatures and timings will work best with your make and model.
Even Cooking: To make sure your potatoes roast evenly chop them into identical sized pieces.
Variations and Storing Air Fried Roasted Potatoes
The choices for roasted air fryer potatoes are limited to your creativity and your spices. These will also keep and freeze nicely, providing terrific leftovers.
Cajun: Use a mix or blend of cajun spices for a spicy side dish to pair with some Baked Cod.
Mexican: Blend cumin, chili powder, onion and garlic powder for excellent twist. The roasted potatoes will combine wonderfully with Chimichangas.
Greek: A mix of garlic, onion, oregano, basil, dill and salt & pepper will make a great greek taste. I adore them with this Greek Salad.
Ranch: Use Homemade ranch seasoning or purchase some and combine with the potatoes.
